Flying Duck Orchid, Large Duck Orchid [Caleana major]
Flowering time: September to December
Habitat: Widespread across much of the lowland open forest and heathland of East Gippsland up to about 1000 metres altitude; always in well-drained sandy to gravelly soils.
Possible Sites: Providence Ponds, Loch Sport, Moormurng and Colquhoun Forests, Raymond Island, Clifton Creek, Bruthen, Nowa Nowa, Marlo Plains, Cann River, Wingan River, Genoa, Wangarabell, Wulgulmerang
Notes: Very distinctive species, once seen never forgotten; very often the small duck will be found growing in association, or not far away.
